Happy Valentine's Day!

Today Max and I are delivering Valentine's cards to the Grandparents and enjoying the day. I am also having a major frozen yogurt craving so we will be making a stop at Golden Spoon.

Even though Max is too little to remember all the details, I want to always make each holiday special and filled with fun memories. So today I will be unplugging from the internet and turning off my phone to soak it all up and do some momma and son bonding.

Tonight I am making a giant feast of lobster, skinny mashed potatoes and some kind of dessert that I have not yet come up with. Any quick last minute (easy) suggestions?

Our plan is to put Max to bed early and have a nice romantic dinner in our backyard just Ian and I...the only thing that will be missing is a glass of red wine for me...BOO ;)

Are you celebrating today, or is Valentine's Day not your thing?

On a side note: Have you entered the k.slademade giveaway yet? Don't miss out on a chance to win a beautiful hand made leather clutch!

Happy Valentine's Day! Kate just posted a recipe for chocolate cakes with raspberries (Molten Lava cakes). They are too difficult to make and are so good. However, they might send your blood sugar through the roof (they are that rich).

Ooops...that would be they "aren't" too difficult to make!

Fun! My mom used to make really simple Strawberry Shortcake Parfaits by layering store-bought angel food cake, fresh sliced strawberries mixed with strawberry glaze, and Cool whip, alternating layers in a fancy glass. My brother and I used to think we were pretty fancy, and it still makes me smile. :)

Valentine's Day isn't really our thing, but I am making a pink cake with our daughter and we're having a nice dinner at home, just the three of us. : )

AW, I love your plans for the day. Hope it's a great one. Also, can you come cook me lobster? yum!! It's so un fair that we don't have a golden spoon here.

We've started a tradition in the last few years where we cook filets on the grill, or anything else decadent we can think of rather than going out to eat. I used to use it as a good way to try new fancy places to eat, but I hate that most places have a special Valentines menu. Boo.

I would minorly celebrate today except boyfriend-fellow was out of town until just now (11pm). I'm waiting in the cell phone lot for his flight. I can't wait! I named a cockroach at the Bronx Zoo after him for Valentine's :) did you figure out a dessert?

Hey! I am by no means an endocrinologist, but I just wanted to share with you something that has helped my sugars tremendously! 1) I bolus for carbs about 20-25 minutes ahead of time (you can play around with it 15-30 minutes ahead and see what time range works for you. But if it's high fat, I use the dual wave feature, bolus only about 10 minutes before and set 75% of the bolus to be delivered later when the spike is expected - say 2 or 3 hours because fat digests slower) ... when I want something like frozen yogurt or higher carb ;) and it prevents a spike. Also, I am taking cinnamon in supplement form, and it has worked WONDERS for lowering my sugars. Good luck with everything! :)
