Happy Friday + My Neighbors Probably Think I'm Nuts

Friday, February 8, 2013

I snapped this picture of Ronin with my iPhone yesterday when I went to check on him during his "nap." Ya there was no nap.  It has definitely been one of those weeks where I am so thankful for wine.  Ahh wine, I love it.  I once had a reader comment that she knew I was pregnant because I stopped talking about wine so much in my post's. Ha!

A few things...Ronin stopped napping during the day.  What is up with that? How I am supposed to get anything done with a crazy non napping crawling all over the place, trying to pull himself up on everything baby?  I seriously can not let that little wiggle worm out of my sight for one second or it's a face plant.

Oh and why do my neighbors think I'm nuts?  Well because I did a lot of yelling yesterday.  I had always told myself I would not be a yeller but that was before I had a two and a half year old, who tests my patience almost daily.

Here's the story...

I brought Ronin's infant car seat into our room while I was getting ready for the day.  I strapped him in, tucked him all up in his favorite soft blankie and placed his favorite toys all around him.  Just before I was about to leave I remembered I had to change over the laundry (or you get stuck with yucky mildewy smelling towels).  I was literally gone for 30 seconds tops.  What could possibly happen? He was safe in his car seat after all.  Well as I was walking back to my room it was quiet.  Quiet in my house means trouble.  I entered my room and saw the red disaster.  Max had proceeded to open a bottle of bright red (oh why did it have to be red) nail polish and got it everywhere!  It was ALL over his hands, the carpet...and then I looked down at Ronin and it was as if Max was trying to get rid of the evidence.  There in Ronin's cute little chubby hands was the empty bottle of fire truck red nail polish which was also all over him and his car seat. AHHHH!  First panic and checking to make sure it was not in their mouth's and then yelling from me.  Yep Max got a serious dose of yelling...that lasted for a good while.  I explained how MAD I was and told him how he was NOT supposed to go in our (baby proofed) drawers.  When the yelling fiasco was over and I called the pediatrician to find out what to do.  Turns out all you have to do is soak them in tub and use basic soap until it kind of rubs off.

After I came to the sad realization that all of Ronin's toys and favorite blankie needed to be tossed I assessed the car seat.  Oh man the car seat got the worst of it and lets just say that his little seat has a whole new custom look.  Oh Max, you crazy little man thanks for keeping me on my toes.  Never a dull moment around here that's for sure.

Have a wonderful weekend!  My husband and I are going to an amazing charity event this weekend in honor of my 8 year old nephew Baden who is such a fighter and sweet little boy.  You can read all about him here.

Ahhhh. The joys of motherhood, especially with toddlers, I know his all too well friend! I have 2 toddlers. Trust me, it's just trouble waiting to happen! My daughter for into a tub of desatin the other say and smeared it all over my hex lounge and couch! That stuff is like cement. It foamy come off or out no matter what you do. I was so mad, I was fuming!!! I scrubbed for weeks but there are still gigantic white spots all over my furniture:( and yes, I swore I would never yell at my kids too! Ha. Fat chance that's happening! I always feel pretty darn guilty but I dot think I've ever had anyone make me so mad constantly:)
Hang in there mama. Your doing a great job!!!

Aah! The entertaining live of mother and wife:-) When she was two and just became a big sister my daughter scribbled with a watertight marker on our just waxed brand new oak wooden floor and our freshly painted walls in our new house. I fixed the floor by sandpapering and waxing it all over again, but her scribbling is still on the wall. I WAS MAD and I bet I yelled as loud or louder than you did:-)

I'm having one of those weeks with my toddlers. If they aren't tormenting each other, they are ganging up on me. There has been more yelling than I like and more moments of sheer anger than I want to admit. But at the end of the day, I know they are simply testing the boundaries to see how much I do love them. And it's a lot ;) Hang in there, mama!

Oh I feel your pain. I have a just-turned-two year old and an 8 month old. Both foster boys (but hopefully soon adopted) and let me tell you, our house gets really crazy at times! Holy smokes!! I don't know what I would do if they stopped napping... probably go insane! How can such precious little boys that I love so much also make me so crazy?! Haha. But thank God, there is always bed time. ;)

First: Ronin's face is absolutely hilarious in that photo. Second...omg. The red nail polish. I would be yelling (and probably crying too). Mila has thrown like 3 tantrums this morning and it's not even 8! It's going to be a long one...so I'm right there with you!

I know for sure my neighbors think I'm nuts especially in the summer when the windows are open. I have a 10 year old a 3 year old and a 10 month old. I yell way more then I ever wanted, and I always feel bad about it. With a toddler I sometimes feel that's the only way to get through to him. Plus being so tired all the time (my ten month old still doesn't sleep through the night) my patience is down to almost nothing. You are doing a great job and I can totally tell by all of your pictures you guys have way more good times then bad. Hang in there you are not alone.

OH MY GOODNESS! I can completely relate.. I am pretty sure our neighbors think husband and I are nuts, too. Why is it that I never hear them, but I always think they can hear me?!

Ohhhhh nooooooo. Posts like this terrify me! Haha…I'm sorry you had a rough day. At least there is wine! You definitely needed a wine intervention. Or a 2 margarita intervention. Glad everyone was OK though and it was consumed…just imagine THAT fiasco. Yikes. Have a great weekend!!

Your story reminded me of an incident many years ago. My husband was away for my birthday. I woke up with a some kind of horrible bug bite reaction on my face and my 2 year old son wrote all over the off white sofa with a red crayon... This too shall pass.
I hope the fund raiser is a big success. I made a donation in gratitude for all the wonderful things you take the time to share.

I loved reading this! Not only did I laugh out loud but I pictured my life! I have a 2 1/2 year old (also named Max) and a 6 month old daughter and this is straight out of my life. It's good to know I'm not the only one who has major freak out moments on a weekly basis!

I can so relate Lindsay lol.. one time my brother and little half sister were in my room and my brother dropped and broke a bottle if clear nail polish all over the wooden floor and ran out without telling me. When I walked in my foot got all sticky and i got a piece of glass in my foot I was soooooo mad.
Btw soo sorry to hear about your nephew :( hang in there Baden!!

A bit of yelling occasionally just lets the world (and your kids) know you are human. I am impressed a toddler could open the nail polish... I have heaps of trouble opening those little bottles!

and i believe that reader was me! haha - you know i noticed that because i love wine just as much :)

as for yelling - my goodness, i tell myself i will try so hard when i'm a parent but sometimes it just has to happen. and i bet if any of your neighbors had or have little ones they think you're perfectly sane!

as for your nephew - i am so sorry to hear he's battling cancer. he is in my thoughts and i hope the event this weekend helped his family raise a lot of money for him. i sincerely hope he gets better very, very soon.
