My husband and I recently found out that we are expecting baby #1, and I'm now almost 7 weeks and just starting to get hit with nausea and food aversions. Thankfully, I'm not too sick yet! But I just wondered if you would mind sharing a few tips on how you ate and handled the cravings/nausea. I'm normally a fruit & veggie fiend (I'm not paleo, but try to stick close to it), but now carbs are the number one thing that sound appealing and obviously that's not an option. Bummer. I really would like some mac'n'cheese and I never even eat that! Thanks for being so open! I have been a T1 diabetic for 37 years & have 7 children...all C-section babies. My high risk OB/GYN doc is very supportive & shared that even Eleanor Roosevelt (back in the day) had 9 C-sections, so he had no worries about my pregnancies as long as I worked hard to keep blood sugars under tight control. Yes, this was a challenge, but like you say...when you make it a priority, it all works out. Though I did experience some unexplainable "ups & downs" with blood sugars during pregnancies & babies with high birth weights, they are all very healthy! Each one is such a blessing! Thanks for your posts. And, unfortunately, it's not like there's a whole bunch of us T1ers, sitting around, drinking coffee and talking about our uteruses. I really enjoy hearing your experience. I would love to hear about how you manage your diabetes around intense workouts. This is something I still struggle with and would love to hear someone else's experience.
